Lwang Ghalel Homestay

6 Days

Overview

A homestay is a popular form of hospitality and lodging whereby visitors share a residence with a local of the city to which they are travelling. In layman terms, Homestay means staying in a spare room of a house where the house owner is there. Homestays are a type of accommodation that define the phrase a ‘home from home. In a homestay, you book to stay with a local in their home. They are your ‘host’ during your stay. The length of the stay can be a day or over a year and the compensation is decided among the owner and the guest. While staying in a homestay not only you get a warm welcome from the host but you also get the chance to see and experience how the locals really live their daily life and how is their livelihood different from theirs. And, in terms of monetary issues staying in a homestay is quite cheaper than staying in expensive hotel rooms. In, Nepal too homestay has been the hot topic and locals have finally started the homestays. Homestays have been quite famous in Nepal in village areas and those places where there are no adequate facilities.

Itinerary

Our representative will meet at the arrival gate with a signboard for Mandala Holidays. Then you will be escorted to your selected hotel. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

Today is the auspicious day of our tour. We visit some of the cultural UNESCO world heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. Swayambhu, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudha and Pashupatinath would be our touring destinations today. These heritages are the live reflector of the religious integrity and architectural wealth of Nepal. After the time you will get brief about the tour. Overnight at Hotel.

Today we will be travelling to Pokhara from Kathmandu for approximately 6 hours by road/air. We drive for about an hour to reach Lwang Village from Pokhara. The view of Mt Fishtail (Machapuchhare) from the village is much closer and clearer than from Pokhara. We interact with the friendly locals and have a traditional Nepali dinner. We stay the night in one of the village houses with the home-stay facility.

Early morning we wake before the sun and reach the viewpoint to watch the sunrise over the Himalayan range. After breakfast, we tour the Lwang Ghalel village; visit the tea garden and enjoy the canoeing site. We see youngsters of the village actively participating in these activities. Then later we interact with the locals to do some typical household activities like the churning of yoghurt, making butter, ghee, etc. You can become one of the villages by wearing traditional dresses. We enjoy the night with a dance and song and rest at the same home.

Local bid us farewell by putting on tika and flower garlands. Our ride back to Pokhara also has some scenic views of the valleys and mountains. Then from Pokhara, we return to Kathmandu through the busy highway along the rivers and mountains. At night you stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

At about 3 hours prior to your flight time, we will escort you to the airport to fly to your onward destination. Mandala Holidays family wishes you the best time ahead. If you prefer to stay longer, you can go for short tours such as jungle safari at National parks, rafting, mountain biking etc.
