Explore the Enchanting Rara Lake - A Himalayan Gem Discover the mesmerizing beauty of Rara Lake, also known as Mahendra Tal, nestled in the heart of the Himalayas. This freshwater wonder is not only Nepal's biggest lake but also its deepest, situated at an altitude of 2,990 m (9,810 ft). Designated as a Ramsar site in 2007, Rara Lake covers an expansive 10.8 km2 (4.2 sq. mi), offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Rara Lake is a jewel within Rara National Park, established in 1976, spanning 106 km2 (41 sq. mi) across Mugu and Jumla districts. Despite being the smallest national park in Nepal, its primary goal is to safeguard the unique flora and fauna of the Humla-Jumla region.

Upon your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our Mandala Holidays team will extend a warm welcome, guiding you to your centrally located hotel. After settling in, join a group briefing at the hotel lobby. Our guide will provide essential information about your stay, the enchanting Rara Lake Trek, and introduce you to Nepali culture. Embark on a picturesque journey as we depart from Kathmandu at 5:30 AM, covering 605 kilometers to reach Surkhet. With breakfast and lunch en route, we anticipate an evening arrival in Surkhet. Check-in at Hotel Siddhartha for a relaxing night, with dinner served at the hotel.

An early start leads us to a scenic drive from Surkhet to Kalikot, covering 150 kilometers in 7-8 hours. Traverse through sal forests, savoring breathtaking views. Upon arrival in Kalikot, check in at Hotel Kalikot Durbar. Free time and dinner at the hotel.

Begin your day early with breakfast and a drive towards Rara Lake via Sinja and Nagma. Lunch on the way, and as we approach Rara, an off-road drive awaits. Enjoy a picturesque drive along the Karnali River, surrounded by villages and forests. Upon reaching Talcha airport, a 30-minute walk and a 2-hour walk to Rara Eco Resort. Check-in, free time, and dinner at the resort.

Witness the magic of Rara Lake by hiking to Murma Top (3,690 m) for panoramic views. Spend the day exploring, boating, and capturing the beauty around you. Enjoy meals at the Rara Eco Resort and take in the tranquility of the lake.

After breakfast, embark on a return journey, walking for a couple of hours before catching the bus. Follow the same route back to Kalikot, arriving in the evening. Check-in at Hotel Kalikot Durbar, dinner at the hotel, and a relaxing night.

Continue your scenic drive, returning from Kalikot to Surkhet. Overnight at Hotel Siddhartha.

An early start leads us to Lumbini, covering approximately 347 km in 7-8 hours. Check in at Hotel Peaceland, dinner at the hotel, and a relaxing evening.

Explore Lumbini in the morning, visiting Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, International Peace Park, and more. After lunch, drive to Sauraha, check into Jungle Vista, and enjoy a Tharu cultural show after dinner.

Engage in early morning bird watching and jungle activities, including a sunrise view and Jeep Safari. Afterward, pack up and prepare to depart for Kathmandu.
