Nestled in the heart of the breathtaking Himalayan region, Tilicho Lake is a mesmerizing spectacle that not only leaves you awe-inspired but compels you to become a storyteller of its unparalleled beauty. This trek unfolds against the backdrop of the majestic Thorong Peak, forming part of the renowned Annapurna Circuit and showcasing one of Nepal's most stunning lakes. Situated at an impressive altitude of 4919 meters in the Manang district, Tilicho Lake stands as the world's highest-altitude lake.

The Tilicho Lake trek, often taken as a side trek from the Annapurna Circuit route, is a challenging adventure perfectly suited for thrill-seekers. Embraced by the scenic Manang Valley and connected to the iconic Annapurna and Thorong Peak, this trek promises a fusion of breathtaking natural vistas, rich cultural traditions, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildflowers. Commencing with an 8-hour drive from Kathmandu to Besi Sahar, this trek typically spans 8 to 10 days, offering an immersive experience in the heart of the Himalayas.

Tour Itinerary

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mandala Holidays. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc.) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mandala Holidays with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to the Hotel and in the evening you will have a briefing before trek. (Overnight in Kathmandu).

Today, we start our journey early to cover the long distance of 185 km to reach our trek starting point. After breakfast, we depart from Kathmandu, embarking on a 7-8 hour drive until we reach Besisahar. Along the way, we will pass through varying landscapes of Nepal, featuring lush greenery, winding rivers, rural villages, fertile farms, and stunning mountain vistas. However, the road conditions may vary, with some sections less smooth than others. (Overnight in Besisahar).

Today, our day begins with drive to Chame, a village in the Manang district. The drive from Besisahar to Chame is a scenic and adventurous journey through the Annapurna region of Nepal.  Along the way, we will pass through picturesque villages such as Dharapani and Tal each offering glimpse of Local Culture and Traditions against the backdrop of scenic landscapes. The landscape changes dramatically as we gain altitude, with lush green forests giving way to more arid and rocky terrain.(Overnight in Chame).

Today we will start our trek from Chame to Pisang. The day starts with walk through the deep forest in a steep and narrow valley crossing a river on a long bridge. The day greet us with the stunning view of Lamjung Himal (6893m), as well as the first sunrays reaching the majestic mountain. As we get closer, we can see a stunning waterfalls. As we progress, breathtaking vistas unfolds, showcasing Pisang peak and Annapurna II enriching our trekking experience. (Overnight at Pisang).

On our fifthth day of trek, we will be trekking on the upper trails through Upper Pisang via Geru, from where we can catch outstanding views of the north face of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho, and Pisang Peak. As the path ascends, the air turns cold, dry, and harsher. This trail goes through the Tibetan settlements, and we get a chance to explore Buddhist culture. You will find that the path is dotted with Buddhist shrines as we pass more monasteries and finally reach Manang Bazaar, where we will stay for overnight. (Overnight at Manang).

Today is the sixth day and we will trek to Khangsar village that will reward us with more breathtaking views of the snow-covered Annapurna and Gangapurna. We can see the Blue sheep, yak, and Himalayan Tahr herds grazing on the scraggly bushes, alpine grass, and horseback riders rushing down the dusted pathways. You can enjoy the peaceful stay in Khangsar Village while enjoying beautiful landscapes. (Overnight in Khangsar Village).

After breakfast, we will pass through several pastures and juniper forests. As our trek continues, we will pass through a small village called Gunsan that has houses made of flat mud roofs. You will also get to see yak and horse pastures. We will go along the new path to reach a high crest, and descend on switchbacks carved out through the scree slopes to a side valley of the main valley. On the other side of it is Tilicho lake Base Camp at elevation of 3900m. (Overnight at Tilicho Base Camp).

Today our journey start early in the morning to avoid the wind. From the Base camp to the Tilicho Lake, it takes another 3-4 hours. Tilicho Lake is a cold barren place and it was once claimed as the highest lake in the world. The changing light causes the color of the lake to change through many shades of blue. After spending some time admiring the lake and the majestic peaks that surround it, capturing photos and videos to cherish the moment, we will begin our return journey to base camp as the day comes to a close. (Overnight in Tilicho Base Camp).

Today you will return back to Manang from Tilicho Base Camp. The trail initially steep, gradually easing as it follows the rivers and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. We will walk right after having some breakfast in the base camp and return back to Manang via same route. by this time you will be more familiar with the route. Then, after 7-8 Hours we will reach Manang, where we will stay for overnight. (Overnight in Manang).

Today we will start our drive from Manang, the road winds its way down through picturesque villages and alongside the Marsyangdi River. The initial stretch to Chame that treats travelers to views of terraced fields and occasional waterfalls, with Chame itself offering a break with its amenities. Continuing from Chame to Besisahar, approximately 66 km further, the landscape transitions as the road descends further into the Marsyangdi Valley. Here, you will pass through villages like Tal and Syange, surrounded by lush forests and rocky cliffs. Overnight in Besisahar. (Overnight in Besisahar).

This marks the end of the program, concluding the journey with cherished memories of the natural beauty, cultural richness, and spiritual essence experienced throughout the trip. . It will be a scenic drive from Besisahar to Kathmandu. You will return with lots of memories that you can cherished for life time. (Overnight in Kathmandu).

It's your last day in Nepal! Grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We will make sure you arrive at Airport with plenty time before your flight home. At this time, we will say our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories and gorgeous photos to show your loved ones.
