Overview

Embark on a short but enchanting trek to the Holy Glacial Lake of Gosaikunda, nestled at an elevation of 4,380 meters north of Kathmandu. This trek is meticulously crafted for those with limited time in Nepal, providing a glimpse of the alpine zone and the majestic Himalayan experience.

Gosaikunda Lake holds profound religious significance, serving as a revered pilgrimage site for Hindus who converge on the location during August's auspicious Janai Purnima festival. Beyond its spiritual importance, the lake is a cherished destination for both Buddhists and Hindus. Surrounded by a cluster of lakes and towering peaks, Gosaikunda captivates with its surreal beauty. The viewpoint above the lake offers a panoramic spectacle of the Langtang valley, adorned by a wide range of Himalayan peaks.

Your journey unfolds with days spent ascending through lush forests until reaching the treeline at Cholang Pati. Here, you'll be greeted by the majestic presence of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, and Annapurna in the distance. Spend a night at the welcoming tea houses of Lauribinayek, and rise early the next morning for a hike to the serene lakes. Tour Itinerary

Our representative will meet at the arrival gate with a signboard for Mandala Holidays. Then you will be escorted to your selected hotel. The rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

We will start our trip in the early morning. Following our breakfast, our guide will help you to get to Machha Pokhari Bus station. From there we will head towards Dhunche(2,030m/6,660ft) from Kathmandu by bus.

On the way, we will be able to enjoy the picturesque settlements and meadows. Through a beautiful scenic route and along with the immense Trishuli river, it will take us around 5-6 hours to reach Dhunche.

Dhunche is a small settlement area and the headquarter of Rasuwa District. After we arrive in Dhunche, we will stroll around the village and spend our time with locals. After spending a wonderful evening with locals, we will stay overnight in a well-maintained tea house.

We will start our day 2 trek after our breakfast in Dhunche and we will ascent towards Chandanbari. After hiking roughly for 2 hours, we will reach Deurali (2,500m), a small village on the way to Chandanbari with a few tea houses.

Via a beautiful trail, passing through streamlets and cascades we will reach Dhimsa (2,900m) after 3 hours of hiking. From Dhimsa, the climb is slightly difficult, as the trail goes uphill through beautiful pine forests. We have to hike steep uphill sections to reach Chandanbari(3200m), a settlement located at the lap of a pine forest. People also call this place 'Sing Gompa'.

Chandanbari has a lot to offer its visitors. A Yak cheese factory and a gompa(monastery) are the major attractions of Chandanbari. We will try the delicious Yak cheese and visit Sing Gompa.

After a hearty meal, we will spend the night in our preferred tea house at Chandanbari.

Following our hearty breakfast in Chandanbari, we will hike uphill to Gosaikunda(4361m). Today the hiking will be comparatively more difficult than yesterday.

The trail gradually ascends from the beginning. We will be hiking via a rugged and narrow trail all the way to Gosaikunda. Gradually when we ascend, you will have to walk through barren hills and encounter a cold breeze. So, make sure you have clothes warm enough to keep you fine in such a cold environment.

After hiking for nearly 1 and a half hours, we will get to Cholangpati(3500m). Now the views of mountains like Langtang Lirung(7234m), Langtang Ri(7205m), Manaslu(8163m) and Ganesh Himal(7422m) are close and clear.

Another 2 hours of the walk will take us to Lauribinayak(3900m). From Lauri Binayak, a panoramic view of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Langtang Ri can be enjoyed.

Then, after hiking up for roughly 2 hours, we will reach a temple called Sakyamuni, which carries both Hindu and Buddhist values. After hiking for half an hour we will see the first lake, Saraswati Kunda, then Bhairav Kunda, and then the main attraction of the trek, the religious Gosaikunda. We will visit other nearby lakes and spend the night at a tea house nestled beside Gosaikunda.

Enjoying the beautiful morning, we will have our breakfast at our hotel. We will explore Gosaikunda then retrace our steps downhill to Chandanbari via Buddha Mandir, Lauribinayak and Cholangpati.

Enjoying the alluring views of mountains, pine forest and heaps of fresh air, we will be hiking downhills. Since we will be descending, hiking will be a bit easier but a bit hard on the knees.

If we get lucky, we will also spot different protected birds in the trail like Wood Snipe, Snow Partridge, Tibetan Snow Cock etc.

After hiking roughly for 5 hours we will reach Chandanbari. Overnight at Hotel.

After watching the morning chores in the village and having breakfast we will get prepared for our long journey towards Kathmandu.

After having breakfast we will be heading downhill to Dhunche where our ride will be wating for us for the transfer to Kathmandu. We will be having our lunch on the way. In Kathmandu, we stay at a beautiful heritage hotel in the center of the town where we can freshen-up after the trek. Our office representative will come to pick you at your hotel for your Farewell Gala Dinner in the evening. Overnight at Hotel.

It's your last day in Nepal! Grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We'll make sure you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport with plenty of time before your flight home. At this time, we'll say our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories.

(If you wish to extend your stay, explore additional adventures like jungle safaris, rafting, hiking or mountain biking)
