Overview

Nestled at an altitude of 4,130 meters, the Annapurna Base Camp offers a unique and breathtaking setting, surrounded by the awe-inspiring peaks of Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South (7,219 m), Machapuchhre (6,993 m), and Hiunchuli (6,441 m).

Inside Annapurna Sanctuary, travellers can choose various treks spanning 7 to 12 days depending on the chosen itinerary and destination. Ghorepani-Poonhill is one of the many treks within Annapurna sanctuary. Poonhill is a beautiful viewpoint famous for its unforgettable sunrise and scenic mountain vistas of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

Easily accessible from Pokhara, the trek to Annapurna Base Camp can be undertaken independently, offering flexibility and freedom to trekkers. With different seasons to choose from, this trek can be experienced throughout the year. However, during winter, the Base Camp may occasionally be closed due to snow levels, and during monsoon the place might be less accessible due to the road conditions.

In the spring, the trek takes on an extra charm as the vast rhododendron forests burst into full bloom, creating a vibrant and picturesque landscape. Tour Itinerary

Namaste & welcome to Mandala Holidays! Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mandala Holidays. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mandala Holidays with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to the Hotel. (Overnight at hotel).

Early in the morning you will be driving from Kathmandu to Pokhara via private vehicle(7-8 hours ). We will cover the total distance of 210km from Kathmandu to Pokhara along the snaky highway. On our way, we can see the picturesque Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers along green and Rocky Mountains, rivers connecting each other and small springs too.Nestled between Phewa and Begnas Lakes. Pokhara offers breathtaking views of Annapurna, Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Lamjung Himal. Enjoy the tranquil lakeside ambiance and stay at Lakeside for a delightful experience. (Overnight at hotel).

After enjoying a hearty breakfast by the serene Fewa Lake, our journey continues with a scenic drive through breathtaking landscapes towards Nayapul or the off-road route to Hile, where our trek begins. The path winds through lush jungles and terraced fields alongside a lively river, an essential juncture on the trekking route from Pokhara to the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre Base Camps, extending towards Jomsom. Following the trail along the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola, we ascend steadily up the valley's side, reaching Hille (1,495m). A short climb further leads us to Tikhedhunga (1,480m). Overnight at Teahouse.

Today, we embark on a challenging ascent, where we are rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhare, and Hiunchuli. Moving through a rhododendron forest, we may encounter wild animals and along the way, we pass by springs and rivers that enhance the natural beauty of the surroundings, making it feel like paradise as we head towards Nanghethani (2,460m).

Continuing our journey for another hour, we reach Ghorepani, a remarkable settlement perched on a ridgeline. The vistas of the Himalayas from this village are simply breathtaking, offering panoramic views of peaks such as Dhaulagiri I, II, III, IV, V, Tukuche, Dhampus, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Barah Sikhar, and the iconic Machhapuchhre, also known as Fishtail. Overnight at Teahouse.

We will start our day with an early-morning hike up to Poon Hill (3,210m) to witness a spectacular sunrise and panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas. The ascent to the viewpoint takes approximately 45 minutes and covers a 400-meter elevation gain.

After soaking in the sunrise and enjoying the breathtaking mountain vistas, we will return to our hotel for breakfast. Following breakfast, we will begin our trek towards Tadapani (2,630 m).Overnight at Local Lodge.

After a nourishing breakfast while soaking in the sunrise at Tadapani, we will embark on a hike that takes us through Ghandruk, featuring a steep descent towards the Kimron River and then a climb up to Chhomrong. Along the way, we will be treated to magnificent views of Annapurna South and the iconic Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre). Chhomrong is nestled at the foot of the mighty Annapurna massif, renowned for its beauty and serenity. It serves as a significant village on the Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp trek routes, boasting stunning hillside vistas of the Annapurnas and Machapuchhre.

Today's trek involves a longer journey. We begin by descending through the sprawling and scenic village, following the trail down to Chomrong Khola. From there, we continue through picturesque surroundings, climbing up to the Modi River valley.

Our path leads us through dense forests adorned with Nepal's national flower, the rhododendron, as well as thick bamboo groves and oak trees. Along the way, we pass by a trailside canyon, taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Finally, we reach our evening's destination, where we can rest and reflect on the day's adventures.

You will start the day with a steep climb.The trail will continue to rise as you near the entrance to the Sanctuary. After passing the lodges at Deorali and Bagar, you will arrive at the level and grassy moraine platform known as Machapuchare Base Camp. The path widens as you enter the Annapurna Sanctuary; you will follow a stream and then continue uphill. You will be rewarded with unobstructed views of Machapuchare, Annapurna south, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli, and other peaks. Overnight at Teahouse.

Early in the morning we will have one of the best 360 degree views in the Himalaya. As the sun rises higher, bathing the peaks in golden light, we begin our descent from ABC, retracing the familiar trail back towards Bamboo. The initial leg of the journey involves descending from ABC to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), where the jagged cliffs and glaciers of Machhapuchhre dominate the horizon. With the glimpse of sunrise over Mt Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchre, we will retrace our journey back to Bamboo. Overnight at Teahouse.

After a long journey from ABC to Bamboo, we will continue our way down towards jhinu danda, passing through the serene forests. We continue our way down to Kimrong Khola and start ascending passing through the serene forests of rhododendron, bamboo and oak. Jhinu Danda is located in a very exotic geographical place. Due to which trekkers can find the soothing natural hot springs. Here, we can just relax and sooth out your tired muscles. Then we will drive to Pokhara by private vehicle. In the evening, you are free to do any activities you desire, like relaxing, strolling along the lakeside etc. Overnight in Hotel.

Today marks your return journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu, a scenic drive that spans approximately 7-8 hours. As you traverse the winding roads, you woll have ample time to reflect on the memories created during your time in Pokhara. It's a time to savor the final moments of your journey, reminiscing about the sights seen, the challenges overcome, and the bonds formed during your trip.

It's your last day in Nepal! Grab some breakfast, and then take in some last-minute shopping in Kathmandu. We will make sure you arrive at Kathmandu International Airport with plenty time before your flight home. At this time, we will say our goodbyes and bid you farewell, armed with warm memories and gorgeous photos to show your loved ones.
