While the natural beauty of the city is more than enough for travellers to throng Kathmandu year after year. There will be a guided tour to UNESCO World Heritage Sites namely Boudhanath- the largest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal, Pashupatinath- the most popular Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Patan or Lalitpur (the City of Artisans), which is 5km away from Kathmandu. At Patan Durbar Square, we will delight in the architectural wonders of the Malla era. Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple are the major attractions at the square. We take an early flight to Nepalgunj. Upon your arrival, you will be escorted to a hotel in Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is one of the hottest places in Nepal. It is also a border city near India. In the evening you can wander around the city. If interested, you will be escorted to a popular temple in Nepalgunj called Bageshwori temple. Overnight at the hotel.

Today, at 2500 meters, you will fly to Juphal, the starting point for the trek to Phoksundo Lake. Upon arrival, you will be glad to see the drastic change in climate, atmosphere and landscape in just a short period of time. From a hot plain land, you will find yourself amidst the mountainous villages with cool air. The trail goes southeast up the valley of Thulo Bheri and winds to the village of Kalagaunda through the maize fields. Follow the South Bank of the Bheri River and pass Roop Ghar, a traditional water mill, before reaching Dunai. Or we can get a Jeep and drive to Dunai which is a 1 Hr Drive from Jhupal. We start the day after breakfast and start descending to cross the Bheri River and almost after an hour we will reach the small town of Sulighat. We pass Sulighat and follow Suli Khola River. On the way, we can get a glimpse of the Dhaulagiri Range. We further pass villages like Kageni and Sangta. We pass through forests of wildflowers, pine trees, spruce, fir, juniper and small bamboo forests. We cross another side of the river and climb up a high rocky slope and continue until we reach Chhepka. Overnight at the teahouse.

We rise early in the morning and after breakfast make our way towards Jharana hotel. The trail climbs through a forest of big cedars and on a winter settlement used by the people of Ringmo village. On this Phoksundo Lake Trek, today is one of the most interesting days as we reach the village of Ringmo today. Ringmo is a beautiful village where we will find traditional people who practice the Bonpo religion and preserve their culture that goes thousands of years back. The religion holds a history marked 18000 years back and was founded by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab Miwo. In ancient times, Dolpo being a Bon kingdom, there were people who practised this religion. Today as we make our way to Ringmo, we make a steep descend through birch forests to the upper reaches of the Phoksundo Khola. We cross a bridge and follow a trail north to the ranger station at Phoksundo Lake. We continue to the shores of the lake near the point where the Phoksundo River flows out of the lake. The final push through the Phoksundo River gully, we emerge to the yak filled meadows of Ringmo, a popular Bon Village in the region. Phoksundo Lake is 4.8 km long, 1.8 km wide and is said to be 650 metres deep. Overnight at Ringmo.

Today we’re going to explore the area around the splendid Phoksundo Lake. Visit the village of Ringmo before heading to Tshowa Gompa, a 900-year-old monastery in Bon on a slope above the lake. Phoksundo Lake is considered sacred by Buddhists and adherents of the Bonpo religion, who believe the lake comprises an underwater palace and a tantric spirit mandala. The lake is famous for its iconic turquoise colour and spectacular scenery. There are many beautiful glaciers located near and above the lake area. Overnight at Ringmo.

In the morning, we walk up to Phoksundo Lake and explore the beautiful scenery around. The azure lake in the pristine environment looks fabulous. We walk for around three and half hours to Rechi and then again for another three and half hours to Chhepka. Our walk for the day is wonderful as we walk through the beautiful forest most of the time amidst the pine and birch forests. Overnight at Teahouse.

This will be quite relaxed walking for about 6 hours as we go down to Juphal. We will recall going up as we are going down and try to take it easy as going down will not be physically demanding as going up. Overnight at Teahouse.

We will leave the hotel at Juphal early in the morning to catch the flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj. Upon reaching Kathmandu you will be escorted to your Hotel. In the evening our office representative will pick you at your hotel for your Farewell Gala Dinner at a Nepali Restaurant.

Overnight at Hotel.

Today is your last day in Nepal. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight or you can extend your Nepal tour by joining other tour packages and activities.
